Resuable To-go Boxes
The Ozzi to-go boxes were introduced in the Spring of 2022 to provide a sustainable to-go option for students in the Dining Hall. Students can obtain a box at the register, fill it up with their meal, and take it to go. Upon returning the used box, they receive a clean one in exchange. See the cashier in Harrington Place for more information.
Addressing Food Insecurity in Our Community
Supporting Local Organizations:
We are privileged to assist underserved individuals on campus and in the Nashville Metro Area. When possible, we donate surplus food to the Nashville Rescue Mission, providing meals to those in need within our local community.
Student Meal Accommodations:
For students facing food insecurity, complimentary meal accommodations are available through the Office of Accessibility. This initiative ensures that all students have access to nutritious meals, regardless of their financial situation.
Swipe Out Hunger Program:
At the end of each semester, students can anonymously donate unused meal swipes to fellow students in need. In 2024, the student community donated 368 meals through this program. This program allows students to help their peers access essential meals discreetly and compassionately. This spirit of generosity is just one of the many reasons why we are proud to be part of the Belmont Community.
Feeding Our First Responders:
In recognition of their important contributions, we are proud to offer complimentary meals to all first responders on campus. This initiative not only honors their dedication but also reflects our commitment to fostering a supportive and sustainable community. First responders can enjoy our dining hall offerings at no cost.
Local Partnership
We are proud to collaborate with a range of local businesses to enhance our campus wide dining experience and support the community. Our partnerships include Frothy Monkey, which provides our delicious coffee at Bruin Bites; Taylor Farms, Crown Masada, and Prairie Farms, who supply high-quality ingredients for our meals. We’re also grateful for many other local partners who contribute to our mission of delivering fresh, local flavors and supporting regional sustainability.
Fryer Oil Recycling & Composting Program
Hundreds of thousands of pounds of previously utilized cooking oils and solid food waste is recycled right here at Belmont thru state-of-the-art composting equipment in Harrington Place Dining. This prevents hazardous materials from winding up in landfills and local water sources exponentially reducing our environmental foot print.
