Q1. WHAT IS MEAL EQUIVALENCY?

Meal equivalency provides flexibility by allowing you to use a meal swipe as a dollar amount to pay for your meal at designated retail locations on campus.

Q2. HOW DOES MEAL EQUIVALENCY WORK?

A student will use their student I.D. to swipe for a meal equivalency in designated retail locations to pay for their meal.

Q3. HOW MUCH MONEY AM I ALLOTTED TO SPEND FOR A MEAL EQUIVALENCY SWIPE?

You will have $8.00 to spend for each meal equivalency swipe.

Q4. HOW MANY TIMES DO I GET TO USE MY MEAL SWIPE?

You may use one meal swipe per day to use at designated retail locations on campus.

Q5. WHICH RETAIL LOCATIONS WILL ACCEPT MEAL EQUIVALENCY SWIPES?

There are currently five locations allotted to use meal equivalency, which include:

  •  Bruin Bites
  • Einstein Bros Bagels
  • Chick-fil-A
  • We Proudly Serve Starbucks
  • Corner Court

Q6. WHAT IF I ONLY SPEND $6 OF THE $8 ALLOTTED FOR MY MEAL SWIPE?

Since the new meal equivalency program is intended to provide wholesome meal alternatives to Harrington Dining Hall, we encourage the full use of the $8 allotment. Transactions below $8 at the register will not be redeemed for cash, as all value must be in a single transaction.

Q7. WHAT IF I SPEND MORE THAN THE $8 ALLOTTED FOR MY MEAL SWIPE?

The $8 amount will be deducted from your total and you will then be asked to pay the remaining amount with another form of payment such as a credit card, cash, Dining Dollars or Bruin Bucks.

Meal plan swipes can be used at the Harrington Place Dining. Dining Dollars that come with a meal plan can be used at any of our on-campus retail dining locations (BruinBites, Chick-fil-A, Corner Court, Einstein Bros Bagels, Mesa Komal Cafe, Slim + Husky's, and Starbucks).

Dining Dollars are funds that are included with a meal plan that must be used in the term in which the meal plan is purchased. In this instance, any remaining dining dollars will not carry over to the next semester.

Additional funds called Bruin Bucks are dollar-for-dollar funds that are placed on a student's Belmont University ID card. Bruin Bucks can be added at any time in any increment. Bruin Bucks roll over to the next semester of enrollment and do not expire.
